TRAINING OUTLINE FOR OPERATORS
OF AN ELECTRIC PALLET TRUCK

 

 

This is based upon the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Industrial Regulations and the  Ministry of Labour guideline for Industrial Lift Truck Operator Training

 

CLASSROOM THEORY COMPONENT

Morning

Duties as stated in the Act and Industrial Regulations 
Principles of safely operating an electric pallet truck 
Battery maintenance and charging
Pre-operational circle check Safe operating procedures
Load handling procedures
Stability factors
PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE COMPONENT

Afternoon

Based upon their experience the participants will complete a series of graduated driving exercises which are designed to allow them to demonstrate and/or develop their ability to safely operate an electric pallet truck in your workplace.

 

During this training phase the instructor and the other participants will be observing and providing feedback for the operator. This co-operative approach promotes team work and  re-enforces the learning process.

 

An evaluation checklist will be completed for each participant during the practical component.

 

TRAINING METHODS

   To ensure maximum involvement participants will be encouraged to participate in group discussions about the use of electric pallet trucks in your workplace. A variety of training aids will be used to demonstrate important points.  

    Your current safety procedures will be re enforced.

CERTIFICATES

   Certificates will be issued for each successful participant.

CLASS SIZE

   The optimum size of the class is 8 participants.
