OPERATOR TRAINING  

This workshop is based upon guidelines created by the Ministry of Labour and ensures that the participants are competent as required by the industrial regulations.  

CLASSROOM THEORY COMPONENT         

Duties as stated in the Act and Industrial Regulations  

Principles of safely operating this equipment  Pre-startup procedures/circle check  

 

High stacker stability

Operating hazards in your workplace

Safely handling loads

Working with electric batteries  

 

        

PRACTICAL OPERATIONS COMPONENT

Participants will be shown how to safely operate this equipment and then given the opportunity to practice under supervision of the trainer. Other participants will also observe this process while the instructor discusses the significant items as they occur.          

 

During the evaluation phase each participant will demonstrate his/her ability to complete the variety of skills required by their regular job to safely operate an electric walkie high stacker in your workplace.

 

TRAINING METHODS

To ensure maximum involvement participants will be encouraged to help with demonstrations and to share experiences related to the use of material handling equipment in the workplace. Overheads will be used in the workshop.

 

The content of this workshop will be adapted to match the equipment used and the loads moved in your workplace.

 

CERTIFICATES

All successful candidates will receive an electric walkie high stacker operator certificate.

 

CLASS SIZE

Optimum number is 8 operators. Supervisors may wish to attend only the  theory component to comply with the definition of “competent” as required in the Act.
