JOB HAZARD ANALYSIS

 

This workshop should be attended by supervisors, maintenance staff, members of the Joint Health and Safety Committee and others who may help conduct a Job Hazard Analysis.

 

CLASSROOM /THEORY COMPONENT Morning

     

Steps in developing a practical job description.

Identifying who should be involved in developing a job description.

Types of hazards, which may be encountered in this workplace.

Identifying actual or potential hazards related to each step in the job.

Various types of  hazard controls.

Evaluating the actual level of risk, frequency potential, and cost of control.

Value of accident/incident reports and workplace inspections.

Factors which promote acceptance of recommendations for improvements.  

 

 

 

 

PRACTICAL/WORKPLACE COMPONENT Afternoon

The group will be divided into teams and asked to complete a job hazard analysis for a specific job in your workplace.

Each team will present their job hazard analysis for evaluation by the whole group.

A presentation will be made to management about the results of a job hazard analysis.

 

TRAINING METHODS

  Group discussions, case studies, inspection reports and other related materials will be used to promote involvement of the participants.

 

CLASS SIZE

The optimum number of participants is 8 to 10. This group size promotes lively discussion and ensures individual attention.

 

TRAINING CERTIFICATES

Each participant will be issued a "Job Hazard Analysis" training certificate.
