CONDUCTING EFFECTIVE WORKPLACE INSPECTIONS

 

This workshop should be attended by members of the Joint Health and Safety and supervisors who may be affected by the committee's recommendations.

 

WORKSHOP TOPICS

Legal requirements for workplace inspections as specified in the legislation.

- Role or worker and management representatives.

Preparing for an inspection.

- Previous inspection reports.

- Accident/incident reports.

- First aid log.  

 

Looking in a effective manner.

Asking questions rather than making assumptions.

Classifying concerns.

Distributing the observations.

Following up.

Role of the Joint Health and Safety Committee,  supervisors, and  managers.

 The participants will conduct an actual workplace inspection of your workplace. This will meet your obligation for a monthly inspection.

 

 TRAINING METHODS

 Group discussions, case studies and the Occupational Health and Safety Act will be used to promote involvement of the participants. An actual inspection will be completed by the participants. Their observations and recommendations will be discussed.

 As required this workshop will be formatted to satisfy the ISO training criteria.

 

CLASS SIZE 

The optimum number of participants is 8 to 10. This group size promotes lively discussion and ensures individual attention.
